The kidneys are one of the most important organs in the human body. The kidneys help to detox and filter impurities from the blood, as well as waste products in our urine. Kidney stones form when the kidneys are not able to process toxins efficiently. Specifically, a crystallization of unprocessed minerals builds up, causing pain, stones, and possible blockage of urine flow.

There are some good natural home remedies to help soothe the discomfort of kidney stones, as well as speed up the body’s natural healing process.

One very simple and good remedy is Lemon juice and Olive oil. Mix 2 oz of olive oil and 2 oz of lemon juice, and drink it straight down and follow with a large glass of water at the first sign of stone pain. Kidney stone sufferers say that the stone(s) will pass within 24 hours. Some people have eliminated at least 8 stones with this remedy and have not gone back to the urologist since they started taking this. Instead of the lemon juice you can also use apple cider vinegar.

For prevention nettle leaf has a long tradition of safely promoting urination. By keeping water flowing through the kidneys and bladder, nettle helps keep crystals from forming into stones and washes bacteria away. It may also help maintain a kidney-stone-busting balance of electrolytes in the urine. Taking 20-30 drops of nettle leaf tincture (available in my online store) per day with plenty of water may help prevent and dissolve kidney stones.

Vitamin A is an essential ingredient for healthy kidneys. One carrot can give you twice your daily requirements for this kidney-friendly nutrient. Foods rich in vitamin A include sweet potatoes, pumpkin, winter squash, broccoli, and carrots.

The B vitamins, specifically vitamin B6, are well-known stone fighters. Vitamin B6 keeps the body from building up excess oxalate. Too much oxalate is a major factor in kidney stone formation.

Unhealthy food intake is a primary cause of kidney stones. Cut down on the amount of sodas and energy drinks you consume. Avoid processed foods and alcoholic beverages. Add more fruits and veggies to your diet.

Nail fungus is usually the culprit when a toenail becomes thicker than normal, difficult to cut, yellow or brown in color and dry and crumbly. It can sometimes affect the nail bed and cause pain and inflammation. A nail fungal infection may begin as a white or yellow spot under the tip of your fingernail or toenail. As the nail fungus spreads deeper into your nail, it may cause your nail to discolor, thicken and develop crumbling edges — an unsightly and potentially painful problem. They are the fungal infections caused by minute parasitic yeasts and molds.

Nail fungus is difficult to cure but many people have luck with a variety of home remedies. There are several ways to treat nail fungus growth and problems with natural and herbal remedies.

Soak your hand or feed in hot water or a vinegar solution two to three times a day to decrease infection. Several drops of tea tree oil or an anti bacterial essential oil blend, like "Healthy Folks Essential Oil Blend" can be added to the soak for additional relief. Removing additional bacteria and debris from the infected nails and cuticles is critical. Washing your hands or feed with antibacterial soap when dirty and drying them is critical to stopping an infection. "Calendula oil" prevents nails and cuticles from over drying and can be used if needed. After this steps you can apply a herbal remedy.

A very good remedy to treat fungal infections is BLACK WALNUT SALVE. Black walnut is one of the best-known remedies for fungal infections and parasite infestations. Black Walnut Salve is great for athlete’s foot, nail fungus, cuts, rashes, insect bites, eczema…and much more.

Lemon is a natural antiseptic, and it can help start killing the fungus bacteria almost immediately.

Tea Tree Oil is also a natural antiseptic, and it reportedly works wonderfully for killing nail fungus growth as well.

Garlic can be used in oil form directly on the infected nails, or you can rub raw garlic on and around the nails too.

Apple Cider Vinegar helps soften your skin and remove the dead skin cells, which allows the fungus to be reached and killed easier.

Cellulite is a term used to describe the dimpled appearance of skin caused by fat deposits that are just below the surface of the skin. It generally appears on skin in the abdomen, lower limbs, and pelvic region, and it usually occurs after puberty. Cellulite occurs when fat structures under the skin harden and form blockages of wastes, fat and lymph. Poor circulation of the lymph which carries waste products and toxins from the different tissues to the blood contributes to cellulite formation.

There are natural approaches to help with cellulite. ROSEMARY SALVE can help to improve the flow of blood and tone the capillary walls under the skin surface thereby improving the skin texture and reducing the cellulite. It stimulates circulation and may get things moving and help break up the blockages of fats and blood vessels around areas with cellulite. Best is to use after bathing, massaging firming into cellulite-affected areas.

CIRCULATION AND VEIN TINCTURE could also be a great help in decreasing cellulite. It contains herbs which are well known to improve circulation, and aid in the oxidation of fat cells beneath the skin. It is also beneficial to the circulatory system, allowing the proper removal of toxins that are released as fat cells are destroyed. This tincture can be taken internally.

How can Cellulite be prevented?

Eating healthy, low fat foods such as fruits, vegetables, and fiber can help one to avoid cellulite.

Similarly exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and reducing stress are recommended to prevent cellulite. In addition wearing thongs, boyshorts, or looser fitting undergarments can prevent cellulite that might form due to tight elastic.

Melissengeist (Carmelite Water) - An herbal remedy from the 17th Century

Posted by Kerstin on October 12, 2012 at 8:25 AM

Here’s a chance to taste history: an herbal remedy from the 17th Century! Still sold in Germany as "Klosterfrau Melissengeist", Carmelite Water or also called Spirit of Melissa, Melissengeist or Eau de Melisse is one of those mysterious herbal blends that delight and link us to the past. This popular product of the 17th century was made by Carmelite nuns and friars and sold as 'Eau de Mélisse de Carmes'.

The recipe for Carmelite Water was so prized that patents for it, under the name ‘Eau de Melisse des Carmes’, were granted by Louis XIV,XV, and XVI of France. This perfume patent was kept inviolate secret by the Carmelite nuns and friars who made it. All that is known of the patent recipe now is that it was comprised of lemon balm leafes and flowers, coriander seeds, angelica root, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves pounded together and steeped in wine. Carmelite Water was also used as an internal and external remedy for just about all ailments suffered in that period of history. Whether through the liquor itself or the medicinal qualities of the herbs used in it, a supposition can be made that whoever took this elixir was bound to feel better in some form or another!

With new medication coming on the market almost daily and getting more and more confusing, you can rely on the power of mother nature. Melissengeist is still today used and very effective for a number of ailments.

For Internal use it is effective against nervousness, states of tension and excitement, anxiety, difficulties in falling asleep, headaches, sensitivity to changing weather, non-organic heart ailments, painful menstrual cramps and during menopause, stomach-intestinal ailments like indigestion, fullness, no appetite. It alleviates symptoms of a cold or flu.

Topical it can be used for Painful nerves, pains after muscular exertion, lumbago, gingivitis, indisposition and exhaustion.

"Carmelite Water comforts the heart and driveth away melancholy and sadness."

If you’ve ever woken up at three in the morning, unable to get back to sleep, or laid awake at night, well after midnight, waiting for Mr. Sandman to arrive in the first place, you are all too familiar with the frustrating, and often debilitating, aspects of an increasingly common condition: insomnia.

Insomnia can impact our well being and the quality of lives. The frustration in not being able to get a good night's sleep can add to sleeplessness. Hectic lifestyles, stress, depression, physical illness and working unusual schedules can all be root causes for insomnia. Although it's common to have the occasional sleepless night, insomnia is the lack of healthful, restful sleep on a regular basis.

There are at least two types of insomnia. The first type is caused by tension, overwork and mental strain, especially for those who work late at night.

The second type is when people fall asleep but wake up after a few hours and are unable to go back to sleep. This may be associated with adrenal weakness.

Herbal remedies are ideal for many, because few of them interfere with medications. The following herbal tinctures and formulas have been known to assist in relaxation and the ability to sleep soundly. They should be taken about 45 minutes before bedtime:

Valerian Tincture is used as an effective and gentle sleep aid for the relief of occasional sleeplessness.

Chamomile Tincture has traditionally been used in herbal medicine as a calmative and/or sleep aid.

Skullcap is a traditional nervine, or an herb that has a relaxing effect on the central nervous system. Skullcap is also a complementary herb that works very well with other herbs.

Hops Tincture helps with insomnia, promotes restful sleep, eases tension & anxiety and works well for nervous stomach.

Lemon Balm has long been known to relieve anxiety and to promote sleep.

Melissengeist (Carmelite Water) is very effective against nervousness, states of tension and excitement, anxiety, difficulties in falling asleep, headaches, sensitivity to changing weather etc.

"Sleep Well Formula" contains Valerian, Hops and Skullcap and is a very effective formula, designed to help with insomnia and other sleep disturbances and is extremely effective if taken in frequent doses just before bedtime.

"Anti Stress Calming Tincture" contains Damiana, Wild lettuce, Skullcap, and Lemon Balm and has calming relaxing and pain relieving effects.

A lack of nutrients can sometimes cause insomnia. Nutrients often needed are calcium, magnesium and vitamin B6 and vitamin B1 (niacin).

Treating insomnia is also possible with the use of aromatherapy. The human brain is an extraordinary thing, and it is not uncommon for us to strongly link memories with our senses, including smells. Aromatherapy cannot cure insomnia or its root cause, but using calming and relaxing essential oils before your intended bedtime can potentially help you fall asleep faster and stay asleep until your intended wake-up time. Some essential oils are purported to be helpful with insomnia. Lavender is often touted as having soporific (sleep-inducing) qualities. Other possibilities include: bergamot, sweet marjoram, roman chamomile, sandalwood, clary sage, and jasmine. Each is variously described as calming, soothing, relaxing, and warming. "Insomnia Relief Essential Oil Blend" is a specially formulated oil helping with insomnia. Place a few drops of the oil blend on your pillow and this may just be the thing for you to put you in a sleeping mood.

A warm relaxing bath before bedtime can also help to induce sleeping. Add 15-20 drops of "Insomnia Relief Essential Oil Blend"in the bath water 1/2 an hour before going to bed to help combat insomnia.

What Else Can You Do?

Stick to a regular sleep schedule. Go to bed and get up at the same time, regardless of the day of the week or whether you've slept.

If you lie in bed for more than twenty minutes and can’t fall asleep, get up and do something.

Keep the bedroom dark and quiet.

Avoid alcohol, caffeine and tobacco

Have a bedtime drink of hot milk and honey.

Do not take commercial sleeping remedies at the same time as herbal remedies.

Exercise regularly—try forty minutes walking four times a week.

Insomnia can be a temporary but troubling problem; but remember that it can also be a symptom of a medical condition requiring treatment. If insomnia persists for more than a few weeks, be sure to consult your health care provider.

It is said a good night's sleep can bring a wonderful tomorrow. May you sleep with beautiful dreams.
Wishing you a peaceful night's sleep and a precious new day.

Detoxify your body naturally

We have all heard about parasites, but what not everyone understands is that we are all victims to them. Parasites cause disease and therefore a Parasite Cleanse is essential in order to eliminate the parasites, and encourage an at-ease state, as opposed to a dis-ease state in the body.

There is a large variety of parasites. They can be as small as a single cell, organisms such as yeasts, molds or fungus, and even as complex as a 50-foot tape worm. These parasitic worms live in our bodies and cause disease. Some say that as much as 2 pounds of parasites might be living in one’s body at a time. These parasites are stealing our nutrients and dumping waste in our environment, our body. Parasites harmful effects are numerous.

What we need for our own parasite problems is a cleanse that will rid our bodies of these parasitic worms.

The following symptoms are typical of parasite infection. If you have these symptoms you might want to consider a parasite cleanse.

•Abdominal pain

•Nausea or vomiting

•Gas or bloating

•Dysentery (loose stools containing blood and mucus)

•Rash or itching around the rectum or vulva

•Stomach pain or tenderness

•Feeling tired

•Weight loss

•Passing a worm in your stool

Just like our bodies have reactions to toxins and poisons, so do the parasites. Certain herbs are toxic to the parasites.

There are three major herbs that are recommended to be taken together to free your body of unwanted parasites. They are Black Walnut Hull, Wormwood, and Cloves.

Black Walnut Hull and Wormwood will help to kill the adult parasites. Cloves will help eliminate the eggs before they hatch.

To kill a variety of parasites across their incubation period and our food transit time, a 5 week cleanse is needed. Take a herbal parasite cleanse formula for 14 days, then stop for 7 days. Then take the herbal parasite cleanse another 14 days. This process gets the parasite parents, babies and any leftover waste they leave behind as they are dying.

Combined with the herbal parasite cleanse you can also do a master cleanse. The master cleanse will starve the parasites in your body. Starving them and poisoning them sounds like a pretty good tag team approach.

The Master Cleanse is a liquid diet. It involves drinking 6 to 12 glasses a day of a lemonade concoction containing lemon juice, maple syrup, water, and a little cayenne pepper. Other than the lemonade drink, a herbal laxative (as tablets or tea) and a salt water drink (2 teaspoon sea salt of 1 quart pure water) are recommended as part of the daily regimen.

Here is the recipe for the lemonade concoction:

2 Tbsp organic grade B maple syrup

2 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

1/10 tsp cayenne pepper

10 oz purified warm or room temperature water

Combine the lemon juice, maple syrup and cayenne with the water. Stir.

To prevent and get rid off parasites it is also very important what you eat. Try eating more raw food in general (well washed, of course). Pineapple contains the digestive enzyme bromelain. A diet rich in pineapple can help to clear certain parasites such as tapeworms. Papaya seeds contain enzymes that help to digest protein. Carrots, sweet potatoes and squash are some foods that are rich in beta carotene, a precursor for vitamin A. Vitamin A is thought to increase resistance to penetration by larvae. Vitamin C and zinc also support the immune system. Tumeric and cloves are other spices that can help fight parasites.

The following is a great list of ideas to help prevent re-infection:

Wash your hands before eating and after going to the bathroom, changing diapers, or   handling pets.

Wash all fruits and vegetables before eating them.

Wash your hands, counters and utensils with hot soapy water after cutting or handling raw meat, chicken or fish.

De-worm pets periodically (that can be done with the herbal parasite cleanse too).

If one family member is infected with parasites, the whole family, including the pets, should do a parasite cleanse

Eat high-fiber foods

Eat pumpkin seeds, calmyrna figs, garlic, apple cider vinegar, cranberry juice and pomegranate

Avoid refined sugars.

Eat cultured food and/or take probiotics

Eat Garlic, lots and often

It goes without saying that if you want to stay healthy, you need to get rid of the parasites in your body. By getting rid of parasites and toxicity, we rid ourselves off digestive problems, improve immune system and stay resistant to illnesses.
